Jumping On The Beast Wagon
Last Saturday, Owen Michael Johnson and John Pearson threw a rather wild party to launch their Beast Wagon exhibition and Kickstarter at Orbital Comics, London. You may have seen it mentioned a week last Wednesday on Bleeding Cool.
The exhibition and Kickstarter was organised in support of British Comic Award nominated Johnson and Leed's based illustrator Pearson's new anthropomorphic comic series – lettered by Colin Bell (Curb Stomp, And Then Emily Was Gone) – which concerns animals captive in the fictional Whipsnarl Zoo.
The private viewing on transformed men and women into beasts with animal face-painting and a shamanistic mixed-media performance involving spoken word (performed by writer Owen Michael Johnson), live-painting (performed by artist John Pearson) and an original soundtrack (performed by Karlsnarl & The Animatones).
The exhibition is currently on display for public viewing at Orbital Comics, Great Newport Street, London until March 19th. Here's a look at what went down.
