Meet The Eight Winners Of DC's New Talent Artist Workshops
If you want to pay $7.99, you can see the first of the DC New Talent Workshop comic books. Which hopefully will pay for some of their classes. Sounds a bit like Trump University mathematics, but there you go.
With over 1100 entries, DC Comics have chosen eight artists to take part in two weeks of an intensive Artist Workshop course held at DC's Burbank headquarters with tutors Andy Kubert, Klaus Janson, Jim Lee and Alex Sinclair.
They are Oscar Bazaldua (from Mexico; first work for DC is Suicide Squad: El Diablo and Boomerang #1 and #2)
Minkyu Jung (from South Korea; recent Kubert School graduate; completing first DC work with Gotham Academy #18, Batgirl #52)
Sam Lofti (from Texas; previous work includes Public Relations, Painkiller Jane),
Matt Merhoff (from California, previous work includes Devil's Due, Hack/Slash),
Ibrahim Moustafa (from Portland; Eisner-nominated artist for High Crimes with DC Writer's Workshop alum Chris Sebela; first work for DC is Flash: Season Zero #12, Doctor Fate #13)
Siya Oum (from Seattle; previous work includes Lola XOXO)
Lalit Sharma (from India; previous work includes various titles for Campfire graphic novels, Zenescope and Raj Comics)
Lynne Yoshii (from New York; School of Visual Arts graduate; former Marvel editor).
I'd like to give a special shout out to Lalit – he was someone who the comics industry conman Josh Hoopes posed as to try and con publishers – and did so for years. Glad to see he has left all that behind him.
