The Wicked + The Divine by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie tells the story of gods who come to Earth almost every century or so, poses the lives of a bunch of youthful folk and run amok changing the world before dying two years later.

While the comic tells the story of the most recent incursion, we have also seen previous examples of their emergence on Earth. Including a recent special by Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans set in 1831 with Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and the invention and publication of Frankenstein.

Well, in Kieron's most recent newsletter he mentioned in passing that he needs to get on with writing upcoming issues of the series.

After all that, they came together extremely quickly, and I've got enough material for the next arc too. With this dealt with – and another darling killed in the next arc – I've got high hopes the sixth trade will be as swift as the fourth. But I need to write the 450AD special before I circle back in that direction.

So what happened in 450AD that might merit such attention? Well, in Rome,  Justa Grata Honoria, eldest sister of emperor Valentinian III, sent her ring to Attila the Hun in an effort to escape a marriage being forced upon her by her brother after having an affair with an officer in her household and plotted to overthrow Valentinian, who has sent her to a convent at Constantinople.

All the Temples of Aphrodisias (City of Goddess Aphrodite) are demolished and its libraries burned down. The city is renamed Stauroupolis (City of the Cross).

Angles, Saxons and Jutes invade Britain, marking the beginning of the Old English period.

Hawaii Loa, Polynesian chief, discovers what will be called the Hawaiian Islands; he sails across 2,400 miles of open water from the island of Raiatea, near Tahiti. He settles on Hawaii, named in his honour.

Could be any of these – or none!
