Ocean Of Secrets By Sophie-chan Debuts At C2E2

The first volume of the fantastical shojo manga series, Ocean of Secrets by artist Sophie-chan will debut at next week's C2E2 from Tokyopop.

After being ship wrecked, Lia, an orphan girl joins the cold-hearted Captain Albert on a mission to escape powerful knights from Lyronaz. She engages with a magic power beyond her wildest dreams and discovers how the murder of Lyronaz's queen is related to Albert.

"We're thrilled to showcase such a talented creator at Chicago's go-to pop culture convention C2E2" says Tokyopop founder and internet hate-figure, Stu Levy. "Sophie-chan is living proof that anyone and everyone can make their dreams a reality, and "Ocean of Secrets" is classic fantasy shojo manga but with her own unique perspective mixed in. Come meet her and the Tokyopop team!"

I understand creators who still hold a grudge over pay/treatment/ownership/leagl rights will be especially welcomed.

Born in Iraq, and now living in Canada, Sophie-chan became infatuated with shojo manga at only seven years old. She taught herself to draw, even as she studied to become an engineer, to fulfil a dream of creating her own manga. In 2008 she started a YouTube channel to show off her artwork, which has since amassed an audience of 370k subscribers, with fans of her original creations all around the world.

"I'm thrilled to have my first graphic novel Ocean of Secrets debuted in Chicago next week and looking forward to the most exciting chapter of my journey!" she says

She will appear on Tokyopop's panel on Friday April 21 at 11:15 in room S405a, followed immediately by a signing in the publisher's booth #441 at 1pm. Additionally, fans can catch the Ocean of Secrets creator at the below times throughout the show:
