11th Annual Rumour Awards: Swipe Of The Year
Okay there are always some non-swipes in Bleeding Cool's swipe file, sometimes mere coincidences, sometimes just funny juxtapositions. But what were the real, uncontrovertable, get-out-the-lightbox examples this year?
Casaonaova definitely inspired some design elements for Action Comics Annual…
X-Men Legacy definitely took from WILDCATS…
Then there are the swiped from real life, like Jamie Redknapp as Jack Of Fables
Lisa Edelstein as Señora Piernas from X-Factor
Jennifer Carpenter as Lois Lane
Then there were plenty of commercial use of images without, you know, getting the permission of the people who created them or paying them, or anything like that;
Crrtain items by Living Dead Souls
Without any permission from the Living Creators Charlie Adlard and Tony Moore.
X-Men: Generation Hope gave us an Akira swipe of which this was but the least;
Concept art for the First Avenger movie went right to the source;
And Icelandic fine artist Erro with an exhibition in the Pompidou Centre swiped from everybody
Writing wise there was Masque Of The Red Death Vs Distant Soil, Hellblazer vs Bill Hicks and Murphy's Law Vs Diver Of The Dead.
But the winner has to be the one that caused most ruction across the net and got an apology from the publisher, Radical. Nick Simmons, son of Gene Simmons, swiping Bleach for his comic Incarnate.
