A Tale Of Two Publishers
There are two comic book publishers. You'll know them by name.
Recently Bleeding Cool was made aware of a number of unpaid debts to creators, so I got in touch with both.
The first was apologetic, gave me excuses that didn't match to what the creators had been told, but promised me they'd sort things out. The creators were contacted (the first contact they'd all had in a while), new payments were promised but this time the cheques went out. I received a number of thank yous from the creators – and even a thank you from the publisher. I am not going to name this publisher or the creators.
The second publisher was rather aggressive when I contacted them, pointing out that the creator hadn't contacted them. I pointed out email that the creator had sent, to be told it was to a wrong address. Despite me using that same address to contact them, and getting this very reply. I was told they could have called. I pointed out that they did call but got no response. I was then told that the publisher would no longer respond to my emails.
The creator in question has now been contacted by the publisher, who tells them they are looking into it.
I do hope they hurry up.
