DC's Zuda Line Slashed (UPDATE)
Twitter has just gone very wrong. Amongst Zuda creators.
Matthew Petz: Fuck. Well I'm devastated. Numb.
Kevin Colden: Oh my.
Brock Heasley: Well, I just got the worst news of the year.
Matthew Petz: Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
Brock Heasley: Seriously, this is disappointment on the level you would not believe.
Matthew Petz: Ok. I gotta cry for a bit, not gonna lie. Also I might vomit.
David Gallaher: @matthewpetz: e-mail me.
Kevin Colden: @matthewpetz Uh oh.
Brock Heasley: @matthewpetz You too, huh? Sorry to hear it, man.
David Gallaher: Oh … Thursday. You started so nicely.
Brock Heasley: Not you too though, right?
David Gallaher: no, but e-mail me
Niki Smith: It was great working with @michaeljasper while it lasted
Drew Rausch: This is NOT the morning I ordered to wake up to. Take it back and MAKE ME ANOTHER!
Michael Jasper: Wow. That was some forwarded forwarded email… Film at 11.
Brock Heasley: Yes, I'll be fine. Seriously everyone, I'll be fine. Just incredible disappointed. News coming shortly, I'm sure.
Niki Smith: I don't think you guys should expect the update that should've been posted today. :(
And from Ron Perazza, the guy who initiated and is editorial director for the line, a simple
Rough Day.
I understand an email went out to a number of Zuda creators half an hour ago. Announcing a radical and swinging reduction of DC Entertainment's original digital comics line to a small handful of titles. And the canning and dropping of a large number of creators.
This comes shortly after the announcement that the voting on talent aspect of the publisher would be removed. And days after the announcement of the DC Comics App for the iPad.
And just think, there were some people who saw the iPad as a potentially good thing for Zuda, once they sorted the flash out. And I understand that a very few will now appear on that infernal device. But only a very few.
Expect more like this through the day as well as official confirmation. Bleeding Cool sympathies are with those affected.
UPDATE: The Zuda Blog has now updated partially confirming the story. The Zuda website will be shut down and certain titles will now be shifted over to the DC Digital division. However they do not make clear the extent of the reduction in the line – though it is something affected creators are sharing online.
