Government Bail Out For Comics Sought – In Taiwan
Today, the comics industry of Taiwan has called for more government assistance to help access the Chinese market.
Of around 100 comics and animation companies in Taiwan, only a fifth have a $1,000,000 or more in terms of ready cash to make the necessary investments. They are asking for help training talent, with marketing and in raising capital to expand.
With a Chinese market worth worth $15.000.000.000 a year, the country's companies see ample scope to expand with the right investment, setting up and controlling avenues of distribution. Some animation companies such as Yaox have been able to build and operate their own cinemas to show their films in China and will now create the China Pavilion and Taiwan Pavilion at the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
