Hulk Smash Or Hulk's Mash? Denver Comic Con Will Host A Heady Brew

True to a great tradition in previous years, Denver Comic Con have teamed up with Breckenridge Brewery to create a con-themed official beer for the convention period. It's an excellent way to bring local eateries together in a sense of community with the massive convention, but that's no surprise since the charity-motivated DCC has always grown out of community support.

Now becoming a tradition ahead of this con, this March Breckenridge Brewery hosted the on-line "Name the Comic Con Beer" contest. With 700 entries this year, they chose the top 5 finalists and went to a public vote, settling on: "Hulk's Mash". The name was suggested by Jonathan Cooper and is now the 2015 Comic Con beer name.

What you'll find in Hulk's Mash is actually rather impressive– a pale ale with plenty of mango puree, lemon, citrus, and "earthy pine scents" along with Mosaic hops.

As befitting a comic con, the label art was chosen carefully from among students at the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD). Students at RMCAD were invited to create label designs for Hulk's Mash, and artwork by Trevor Plaza was chosen to adorn limited-edition commemorative pint glasses.

The beer and glasses will be available leading up to and during con at the following locations: Breckenridge Colorado Craft, Hard Rock Café, Hyatt Regency, Marlowe's, Paramount Café, Pizza Republica, Tarantula Billiards, The 1up (Colfax and Lodo locations), Tilted Kilt, and World of Beer. Some Denver pubs are also going to carry the beer and offer glasses (while supplies last) during Denver Comic Con weekend.

But to kick things off, on Friday, May 1st, The 1Up on Colfax will host a Hulk's Mash release party featuring DJ N810, DJ Carmello, 90's cover band The Gin Doctors, and the last show ever by Total Ghost. The first 200 to attend the release party receive a free pint glass, according to Denver Comic Con.
