Jonathan Ross Talks Turf, CLiNT And X-Men: First Class
The Comic Relief meeting went well this morning. More to come on that.
Jonathan Ross has been talking to The Geek Syndicate podcast about his comic Turf, the magazine CLiNT, and his wife's new screenwriting project X-Men: First Class.
Future issues of Turf will see an increased cast as the book moves into Harlem, motivations questioned, choices and complex arcs for all the characters, and a big battle for issue five. Oh and vampires laughing at a Dracula play.
After the CLiNT magazine has serialised Turf, Jonathan has a number of potential projects that would fit in the magazine. One might be an ongoing series in mind that started as a Vic'n'Bob TV vehicle idea, needing multiple artists, though starting with Tommy Lee Edwards. Another is comedy with a superhero back story, which would come bagged with a free memership card gift, and another is a supernatural romantic comedy. Jonathan also states that Frankie Boyle's story is a "dark, weird" sci-fi story.
He's also got a SHIELD pitch he needs to get to Joe Quesada.
Busy boy.
And busy girl as well, Jane Goldman, Jonathan's wife is writing X-Men: First Class. Jonathan says that the film will appeal to the core fans as well as the general public. "really stylish have some great ideas and lots of lots of extra little cool unexpected things in it… cinematic easter eggs… loads and loads of real things when you come out and you're talking about it".
He talks about how when he goes to bed with his wife, she insists on talking about early mutants and how he called Matthew Vaughn with intentionally bad casting ideas for the movie. Richard Wilson as Professor X, I can see it.
