TNT Orders Elisabeth Shue Pilot 'Constance' from Robert Downey Jr. and Boxing Drama 'Beast Mode'

While the entertainment industry might be taking a collective breather after the onslaught of breaking news, previews, and trailers that flowed out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con, TNT continues making news with the network ordering its first dramatic pilots for 2018: Constance, starring Elisabeth Shue (The Boys), and the tentatively titled boxing drama Beast Mode.

KC Perry (The Originals) is handling script duties for Constance, with Jesse Peretz (Glow, Girls) attached to direct. Inspired by the life of boxing trainer Ann Wolfe, Beast Mode is written and executive produced by David Schneiderman.

Constance tells the story of former beauty queen-turned-small-town bureaucrat Constance Young, whose life is thrown into turmoil after her husband's mysterious death. Realizing she and her family are on the verge of financial ruin, Constance turns to cooking the books at City Hall, while simultaneously trying to reinvent herself through the hyper-competitive world of direct-sales cosmetics.

Produced by Team Downey in association with Sonar Entertainment and Studio T, Constance lists Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey (Sherlock Holmes), Amanda Burrell, Bill Dubuque (Ozark), Tom Lesinski (Mr. Mercedes), Jenna Santoianni (Mr. Mercedes), Peretz, Shue, and Perry as executive producers.

Beast Mode tells the story of a feisty, brilliant-yet-damaged woman with a "kill or be killed" mentality. While these qualities make her an excellent trainer, they tend to cause problems in the rest of her life.

Produced by Wolfe and MACRO in association with Studio T, Beast Mode lists Stefanie Huie (Triangle) and MACRO's Charles D. King (Mudbound), Kim Roth (Inside Man), and Poppy Hanks (Fences) as executive producers.
