Wednesday Runaround – Inspired By Superman's Walk
WalkWatch: It was a lovely day when I landed in San Diego. Warm enough, a breeze coming off he sea, cloud cover, I decided to walk with suitcase from the airport to the Hilton Scott Pilgrim. About four miles I guess, took around an hour, I'd recommend it to anyone who's been stuck on a plane. And saves you the $5 bus fair too. The boats, the artwork, the old people on horizontal bicycles and I could see the Hilton Scott Pilgrim from across the bay so I knew the general direction I had to keep going in.
I found myself on the flight with a bunch of fans, the crew from Future Publishing/SFX, Quint from Aint It Cool and Jeremy Boba Fett Bulloch. Which was nice. So what else has been going on?
ConPanelWatch: Okay, so I'll be doing this tomorrow early evening…
BoysWatch: In the recent issue of The Boys from Dynamite, Garth Ennis mentions a website www.believe.com – which resolves in real life to www.christianmingle.com, a Christian dating site.
WossyWatch: The BBC have already run a Jonathan Ross documentary about Steve Ditko. Now they are doing one with Jonathan Ross and Jim Steranko and The Guardian run a massive article by Jonathan on the meeting.
JR: You were also working in advertising, which would have paid more and probably given you more respect. It's one of the things I find romantic about the comic book industry . . .
JS: There is no money in comics. I did it to make a statement.
Anyone get the first photo of Jonathan at con? Especially in his Vampire Hunter D suit, or whatever?
BongoWatch: Heidi is running a piece on the new Bongo website opening tomorrow… which is now today! Though it still seems to need a password right now.
StrayBulletWatch: Wildstorm give us a heads up on David Lapham and Greg Scott's new Driver series based on the game of the same name.
SwagWatch: The Fables panel on Saturday will be giving away free, ultra-collectable swag apparently…
ShopWatch: Rocketship is open again!
ShopWatch2: Bleeding Cool's campaign for OK Comics in Leeds hits The Guardian.
