Wednesday Runaround – Tabloid Hulk Out
MailWatch: The British papers are all repeating a letter left by police killer Raoul Moat in which he describes his rages as "It's like The Hulk, it takes over and it's more than anger and it happens only when I'm hurt, and this time I was really hurt"
The Daily Mail attempts a psychoanalysis;
Like many narcissists, he has a puerile, cartoon view of the world, seeing himself as a hero battling malign forces. In his case, he has taken the cartoon imagery to a literal conclusion. Again, in absolving himself of responsibility, he says his rages are like 'the Incredible Hulk takes over'.
Tellingly, The Hulk, as portrayed in comics and Hollywood movies, was actually a force for moral good, using his supernatural powers in the quest for justice.
Furthermore, Moat even tried to turn himself into a real-life version of The Hulk. An extreme bodybuilder, he is said to have indulged in heavy steroid abuse, which not only artificially expanded his muscles but also warped his mind, making him extremely paranoid.
Or he just used a simplistic allegory and everyone just needs to justify their "Hulk" headlines. if he's have said Jekyll and Hyde, would they be analysing his obsession with Victorian pulp fiction?
