This is what happened to the Phoenix powered up Cyclops from the 616 Marvel Universe at the hands of the God Doom in Secret Wars.

There is another version of the 616 Cyclops hanging around in Ultimate End, one apparently created by Doctor Doom and paired against the Ultimate Universe.

ultimateBut will one of them make it out the other end? After all the 616 Doctor Strange has also met with a sticky end…

But a rejuvenated version will be seen in the newly relaunched Doctor Strange series, losing the grey hairs and being all, well, Cumberbatched.

Well, it seems that you've got your wish. Did Cyclops, in the eight month gap, die at the hand of the M-Pox? You know, the disease killing and sterilising mutants, caused by the Terrigen Mists?
