The Return of Suicide Squad: Black Files – With or Without Doctor Endless?

Once upon a time, writer Jai Nitz sent a message to a bunch of comic book retailers promoting new characters he was creating for the Suicide Squad: Black Files series. The historical Aladdin, revealed to be a Green Lantern; a monstrous character who evolved into something stronger, Pokémon-style; and the non-binary character Doctor Endless, whose appearance was based on the Endless of the Sandman.

Except no one had told Neil Gaiman, who maintained a control over the Sandman properties at DC Comics and with whom DC Comics were the planned Sandman Universe series with plans for Sandman's appearance in Metal – all being jeopardised by this Suicide Squad mini-series. A week before publication, it was cancelled.

One-and-a-half years later – it is finally being published. Here's the new solicitation.
