Comic Creators, the Famous and the Forgotten, London Cartoon Museum, Wells St – A new exhibition celebrating the world of comics, curated by Comics Curator Steve Marchant. Grateful thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Until September 30th.
The Cartoon Museum – Drawing Life. A new display showcasing the very best of the Cartoon Museums collection of cartoon art, curated by Cartoonist and Cartoon Museum Trustee Steve Bell. Until December 31st.

Doaly – Pop Culture Poster Art Exhibition -UK-based digital illustrator Doaly with a choice selection of his comic book themed posters on display and a range of smaller A4-sized prints available to purchase in-store, Orbital Comics, 14th August – 8th September.
Posy Simmonds: A Retrospective. The first major UK retrospective of the celebrated comic artist and graphic novelist. Posy Simmonds' sharp satire and progressive female characters have defined a career spanning 50 years. The exhibition will feature her early-career pastiches, iconic cartoon strips for The Guardian and children's books such as Fred, which became an Oscar-nominated film. It will also include the first ever British graphic novel, True Love, unseen pages from Tamara Drewe and drawings from Simmonds' new 2018 book, Cassandra Darke. Space Chase – Cosmic Comic Workshop, Get inspired by Space and moon landing. Design your own cartoon strip with Simon Faiers, artist, model maker and story writer. Wandsworth Town Library, London. 2.30-3.30pm. Ages 5-12.

Hampstead School of Arts are hosting the Cartoon Workshop where visitors will explore different comic art techniques and begin to develop their own unique style and draw their very own comic book character that they can include in their story line. Introduction to illustration: A one-day workshop, Guardian Masterclasses, Millie Nice will set you on the right path. Learn what it means to draw for a living and gain an insight into different forms of illustration, including editorial and advertising content, book design and children's stories, as well as the underground world of comics and zines. 10am-4pm.
Barbican Comics Forum, Barbican. 5.30pm-7pm. A fun and informal book group dedicated to the understanding and enjoyment of the multifaceted medium of comic books and graphic novels.
MDLF: Panel discussion – Visual Storytelling, Should forms of visual storytelling be considered literature? Are there stories which could only be told, or best told, through images? Does the graphic novel open up a space for those traditionally left out of the western canon of literature — like stories of migrants and of migration?DIY Space for London, 4.30-6pm.

Monthly reading group, Reads, turns its eye this month to Art Masters: Basquiat, Julian Voloj & Søren Mosdal's biography of iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, published in English by Selfmadehero. 7-9pm. Gosh Comics.

As you fill your magazine with poetry, quizzes, comic strips and more you'll learn all about the different ways stories on your chosen theme can be told. 7-14 year olds. The Poetry Café, 11am-Noon.
Read All About It: Create Your Own Zine Activities, Write, illustrate and assemble your own mini-magazine (zine for short!) in this creative workshop based on zine publisher and comic artist Kristyna Baczynski's brilliant book Read All About It!, Foyles, 2-3pm.
