Today's Action Comics #990 Reprises Superman IV: The Quest For Peace
When Superman Rebirth talked about reintegrating aspects of the character that had been lost by continuity reboots and refreshes, did anyone suspect that would include the much-derided Superman IV: The Quest For Peace? You remember when Superman gets all the nuclear weapons in the world and throws them into the sun? But oh no, Lex Luthor hid some of Superman's hair in a "genetic matrix" and created a villain to fight Superman, Nuclear Man?
Well, in today's Action Comics #990 by Dan Jurgens, Viktor Bogdanovic, Trevor Scott, Scott Hanna and Mike Spicer, Superman tried to make peace between warring factions… guerillas and businessmen in their suits and ties and big medallions.
Something that gets noticed over in Detective Comics #967, as comic book continuity works quite well this week, at least at DC Comics.
So what was it that Superman tried?
That's right, putting all of the weapons in a big pile and blowing them up. Again. I really hope he didn't leave a strand of hair in there this time. And as Detective Comics points out, it doesn't look like it worked…
