We've already pointed out (and ran video) of IDW's plans to sell My Little Pony mini-comics in mass market retail stores, aimed at children. Indeed, just seeing them opened up by my kids has apparently changed IDW's mind about how they'll package the comics. They are serious about using this as a way to target comics to kids, and plan to expand the category with other comics, Transformers, Turtles and the like.
But it's not the only comics outreach using Transformers that's on the table.
IDW have arranged to package Transformers comics with full-size Transformers toys, each with ads for further stories, ComiXology ads and the Comic Shop Location Service.
Expect to see the same with My Little Pony, Turtles and more to follow…
