Unslabbed Preacher #1 Sells For $385. Slabbed For $650. Preview For $610.

preacherBleeding Cool was the first to officially confirm that AMC/Sony were making a TV pilot out of the Garth Ennis/Steve Dillon DC/Vertigo comic book, Preacher.

And the market has sat up and taken note.

And now, on eBay, a copy of Preacher #1 in Mint/Near Mint condition, though not CGC slabbed as these things often are, has sold for $385.

Two months ago, it was a $13 book.

Quite a rise… and for a CGC 9.8 slabbed copy, $650. Which, if you are confident of the condistion, might explain why people are willing to pay $400 for an unslabbed version.

There are 146 copies of Preacher #1 graded by CGC at 9.8. There are none at 9.9 or 10.0.

But it's not just the main comic. The flimsy free promo, Preacher Preview, hundreds of thousands sent to shops showing off the then-upcoming series, has sold for $610 with a CGC 9.8 value. In comparuson, the Absolute Vertigo preview book that contained the same preview, has sold at CGC 9.4 for a mere $90.

It's a crazy world.
