Will Red Legend Be Valiant's Next Faith?

Valiant has trademarked The Red Legend. Now we get an inkling as to why.

Valiant promised that their latest event, Divinity III: Stalinverse, would bring many a lasting changes to their universe long after the series has ended. Well, it looks we have the first sign of that permanency with the Red Legend, a brand new character that Valiant calls their version of Wonder Woman or Thor, that we're formally introduced to in today's Divinity III: Komandar Bloodshot #1.

But who is the Red Legend? While we caught a brief glimpse of her and three other new characters last week in DIVINITY III: STALINVERSE #1, we now know her entire backstory thanks to an origin bonus tale by Matt Kindt and Juan Jose Ryp.

We first learn that The Red Legend came into existence by a magical power, but was quickly discovered and adopted by a prisoner inside a Russian labor camp. While her childhood was obviously a rather rough one, she found solace in old folktales about a "Red Legend"…a magical bird that held immense power.

Once her powers manifested, The Red Legend and her mother were given nearly everything they wanted…which was all a part of the Soviet's plan to placate and control her. While the Red Legend seems alright with it, her mother knows that the generosity is not actual freedom.

Fast-forward to several years later. The Soviet Union reaches out to The Red Legend for her assistance on the front lines. But will she agree to their proposal? We'll have to wait and see what her final role is in the Stalinverse…and for Valiant as a whole…in the months ahead.

DIVINITY III: KOMANDAR BLOODSHOT #1 is on sale today from Valiant Entertainment.
