Will There Be A Comics Drought In The New Year?

STK628667Having a look through the new solicitations for January 2014 makes interesting reading for all sorts of reasons.

But one thought sticks out, for products intended to come out on New Years' Day.

From Dark Horse, there's Baltimore, Bad Blood, Grindhouse, even The Star Wars #0 and more. IDW has Sinister Dexter and Popeye Classics. Image has Artifacts, Carbon Grey and Invincible Universe… but from DC? A few trade paperbacks. From Marvel? Nothing.

Could we have a week without any regular monthly comics from the Big Two at all?

Maybe Marvel and DC zombies will have to turn to Action Lab's new book Jack Hammer #1. Or Aspen's Trish Out Of Water #4. Boom's Deceivers #2 or Robocop: Last Stand #6. Dynamite's Twilight Zone #1 or Jennifer Blood #35.

There's lots to be found to usher in the New Year. Just a distinct lack of Superman and Spider-Man.
