Destiny: The Taken King Is The Most Downloaded Day-One Game In PlayStation History
I've been playing Destiny: The Taken King since its release on Tuesday. I'm a big fan of the changes it brings, and the way it seems to have rejuvenated the community.
It seems people really have come back to the title too. Activision have revealed some impressive record breaking milestones the game hit on Day One. In a statement, Activision said:
Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) announced today that Destiny: The Taken King broke the record for the most downloaded day-one game in PlayStation history and set a new day-one franchise benchmark for both total players and peak online concurrency, surpassing the original Destiny launch day last September, which was itself the biggest new video game franchise launch in history.
While the "PlayStation history" part is a bit of a misnomer, since the PS4 and later era PS3 is the only time you could download games, it is still an impressive achievement. The fact that it beat the vanilla version of the game at least shows there really is an interest in this title. Seeing how long this honeymoon period lasts, is the next phase.
