Gerard Butler Drops Out Of Point Break Remake
I don't know if this is good news or bad news for everyone who didn't even want a Point Break remake in the first place. There may be some signs of trouble on the new film, as THR reports Gerard Butler has now dropped out of the starring role.
The big reason appears to be scheduling, as Point Break had been planning to begin shooting in late June, while Butler has also committed to starring in Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen around the same time. Beyond that though, THR's report indicates "a number of factors" led to this decision, including creative differences. That's usually a bigger sign of trouble for a production.
But here's the good/bad news, depending on your perspective: Point Break filmmakers are intent to keep their original start date – with Luke Bracey is still on board for the other lead role, first originated by Keanu Reeves in Kathryn Bigelow's original film – and will recast Butler's role ASAP to make it. So who should it be?
