Walton Goggins Seems Pretty Excited To Be Playing The Villain In Tomb Raider

Walton Goggins has a long history of some killer roles. While he isn't often a lead, the actor is usually a standout in most that he does. It's why I'm really excited that he is going to be bringing that clout to the upcoming Tomb Raider movie.

In fact, he seems really excited about it too. Speaking to Yahoo, the actor appeared to have a ton of enthusiasm for the project, saying:

The story is so good. It's so good! I think I can say this: For me, it's like Raiders of the Lost Ark meets a genre version of the Joseph Conrad novel Victory: An Island Tale. I just jumped at the chance.

Specifically on his role as a villain he said:

Is he a villain? Sure, that is an easy description. An antagonist, for sure. But [like other characters] I have been so lucky to have the opportunity to play over the course of my career, there are real reasons behind his antagonism, and it's not what you'd expect. He is very complicated, and his motivations are pure.

It's rad to see Goggins jazzed for the project. It has a ton of potential, especially as we know it will broadly be based on the 2013 reboot, which was great. Here is hoping this comes together as good as it can.
