Wonka Crosses $100 Million Mark As It Wins Holiday Box Office
Wonka crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box office yesterday, certifying it as the winner of this year's holiday box office.
Article Summary
- Wonka surpasses $100 million domestically, dominating the holiday box office.
- The film takes lead from The Color Purple, earning $8.9 million on Wednesday.
- Globally, Wonka's dazzling success reaches $273 million, confirming its hit status.
- With Timothée Chalamet, Wonka is set to exceed $150 million in domestic sales.
Wonka scored $8.9 million on Wednesday, taking back the top spot at the daily box office from The Color Purple. More importantly, it sent it past the $100 million mark domestically at the box office, cementing its place as this holiday's box office champ. As Aquaman retreats further into the water, Wonka is set up to keep the run going for a few more weeks, as the January slate of films is lacking, to say the least. Worldwide, the film is now at $273 million and is a certified hit. Not bad for a film that had many doubters coming out of the footage making its debut at Cinemacon last spring. Our own Kaitlyn Booth said this would happen, giving the film a thumbs up.
Wonka Should Top $150 million Domestically
