The Crown Season 2: New Trailer Brings Winds Of Change

The revolutionary vibe of the 1960's wasn't one that was exclusive to the United States; but one that was felt in every corner of the globe. As we can see from the theatrical trailer released by Netflix for The Crown's second season, "every corner" means that not even the throne of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) is immune from change.

The Crown stars Foy (Upstairs Downstairs), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Victoria Hamilton (The Game), Vanessa Kirby (Bone in The Throat), John Lithgow (The World According to Garp), Nicholas Rowe (Da Vinci's Demons), Pip Torrens (Preacher), Jeremy Northam (The Man Who Knew Infinity), Ben Miles (Black Mirror), and Billy Jenkins (Humans).

Season 2 will see Matthew Goode (Watchmen) join as Princess Margaret's husband Antony Armstrong-Jones;  Michael C. Hall (Dexter) as John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States; Jodi Balfour (Rellik) as Jacqueline Kennedy, the First Lady of the United States; and Anton Lesser (Game of Thrones) as Prime Minister Harold Macmillan.

Based on the award-winning play The Audience, the series tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II's reign as the fragile social order established after World War II breaks apart. From creator-writer Peter Morgan, director Stephen Daldry, and producer Andy Harries, The Crown continues to chronicle the major political and global events that have defined and shaped the second half of the twentieth century.

The first season depicts events up to 1955, with Claire Foy portraying the Queen in the early part of her reign. The second season is intended to cover from the Suez Crisis in 1956 through the retirement of the Queen's third Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, in 1963 following the Profumo affair political scandal. A third season will include Princess Margaret's five-year affair with baronet and gardening expert Roddy Llewellyn.
