  • Big names like David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, and Dakota Fanning are attached to the project
  • The novel's concept of a woman turning to OnlyFans to knock out her debts has A24 written all over it
  • Kelley and Kidman have a history of successful drama series, bringing high expectations for 'Margo'

A24 has nabbed the rights to the new novel Margo's Got Money Troubles from author Rufi Thorpe. The studio was in fierce competition for the show, which has some massive names attached. David E. Kelley is in talks to co-write – with frequent partner Nicole Kidman, as well as Elle Fanning and Dakota Fanning, producing through their various production houses. A24 has been busy wheeling and dealing during the dual strikes that have gripped Hollywood in 2023, going after every piece of content that has gone up for sale, as pickings are slim at the moment. THR had the report of the rights deal this afternoon.

A24 Is The Perfect Home For This

Here's a look at an official overview of the novel, which is scheduled for publication in June: "'Margo's Got Money Troubles' revolves around Margo Millet, the daughter of a Hooters waitress and former pro wrestler who, after having an affair with her junior college English professor, gets pregnant and turns to OnlyFans to make ends meet. After reuniting with her estranged father, who imparts advice he learned in the wrestling ring, Margo becomes a runaway success on OnlyFans."

That concept has A24 written all over it and is also not the only tie to wrestling A24 has, as they will also be releasing The Iron Claw in theaters in December, hoping for some awards attention for the tragic story of the Von Erich family. Kelley and Kidman have paired together for some of the most respected and popular drama series of the last 10 years, including Big Little Lies, The Undoing, Love and Death, and Nine Perfect Strangers. I wonder how they will fair with the material, though, it seems like it will require a bit of a lighter touch, and none of the pairing's previous outings have been known for that. More crippling despair. I guess there is a first time for everything.

More on this one as we learn it.
