Bosch: Michael Connelly Confirms "Legacy" Season 3 Filming Underway

Bestselling author Michael Connelly confirmed that filming on Bosch: Legacy was officially underway in an Instagram post to the fans.

How's this for timing? A little more than a week after reporting that Amazon & bestselling author Michael Connelly's Titus Welliver-starring Bosch: Legacy has scheduled some Season 3 filming in Los Angeles for the end of the month, Connelly has taken to social media to officially announce that filming on the third season was underway. Based on 2022's Desert Star, Connelly writes that the season will include "a lot of new stuff for Maddie Bosch and Money Chandler" and is shaping up "to be the best season yet."

"Hard to believe but we started production today on the 10th season of the Harry Bosch story. Season 3 of 'Bosch: Legacy' is underway," Connelly began his initialed caption to his Instagram post showing Welliver filming as well as the clapper board signaling filming on the third season was underway. "Based on 'Desert Star' (2022) and a lot of new stuff for Maddie Bosch and Money Chandler, it's going to be the best season yet because this cast and crew, the writers and directors, everybody involved in this little village we call a TV show raises the bar every time. There's a reason we are at 10 years and going, and that's it. And it starts at the top with the Number 1 on the call sheet. Titus Welliver is the best. He's the leader, and he's the glue. He's Harry Bosch." Here's a look at Connelly's post:

Bosch Universe Is Expanding In Some Big Ways…

In November 2023, the streaming service announced that it had given a 10-episode green light to an "Untitled Renée Ballard Project." Connelly is set to executive produce via Hieronymus Pictures alongside Fabel Entertainment – with Michael Alaimo (The Closer, The Man Who Fell To Earth) & Kendall Sherwood (Major Crimes, Your Honor) set as co-showrunners. "It is so exciting to bring Renée Ballard to the screen and to do it with Prime Video, my streaming partner for going on 10 years. This show will have the same authenticity and propulsive momentum of 'Bosch: Legacy.' Fans of the books will love it," shared Connelly when the news was first announced.

The Prime Video spinoff follows Detective Renée Ballard, who is tasked with running the LAPD's new cold case division—a poorly funded, all-volunteer unit with the largest caseload in the city. Ballard approaches these frozen-in-time cases with empathy and determination. When she uncovers a larger conspiracy during her investigations, she'll lean on the assistance of her retired ally, Harry Bosch, to navigate the dangers that threaten both her unit and her life.

The series will be executive-produced by Connelly, Michael Alaimo & Kendall Sherwood. Henrik Bastin & Melissa Aouate will executive produce on behalf of Fabel Entertainment, with Jasmine Russ co-executive-producing. Jamie Boscardin Martin & Trey Batchelor will also serve as co-executive producers – with Theresa Snider co-executive-producing for Hieronymus Pictures.
