Eminem, Detroit Lions Fans Need "Favor" From LA Rams QB Matt Stafford

Eminem had a message for Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford on behalf of Detroit Lions fans. It's time for Stafford to return a "favor"...

NFL's Wild Card Weekend kicked off on Saturday with a whole lot of drama surrounding the Peacock streaming experiment going on with the Miami Dolphins-Kansas City Chiefs game. Let's just say that NFL fans weren't happy being forced to pay for something that they've historically gotten for free. But Sunday's drama appears to be focused back onto the field – with the Detroit Lions taking on the Los Angeles Rams later tonight (Relax! Put down the pitchforks & fiery torches! It's on NBC!). If you're a Lions fan, you're looking at your first NFC North title since 1993 – also the last season when the team hosted a playoff game.

And then there is the matter of Lions QB Jared Goff and Rams QB Matthew Stafford – who, until the 2021 offseason, quarterbacked each other's teams. Making it even more painfully awkward for Lions fans is that Stafford spent his first dozen seasons with the Lions before being traded to the Rams – only for Stafford to lead them to a Super Bowl win. So – long with the pressure of seeing your team finally having a shot at going some distance in the playoffs – you're dealing with the possibility of your old QB "coming home" to knock off the team that helped put him on the map.

It's not easy being a Detriot Lions fan – we're talking about some seriously long-suffering folks here. So when rap icon and one of the Detroit Lions faithful Eminem posts a video directed at Stafford asking the QB to do him & Lions fans "a favor," we get it. And the reminder of how he rapped for him in the past was a particularly nice touch on Eminem's part – the legend joined Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige & Anderson .Paak for the Super Bowl LVI halftime show in the game that saw Stafford & the Rams win the title. Here's a look at Eminem's efforts at some fan-based psychological warfare:

Between the two teams, the Rams hold a 45-41-1 advantage in their all-time series. In regards to the postseason, this will be there face-to-face since… wait for it… 1952, during the National Conference championship – with the Lions winning, 31-21, ahead of the team's second NFL Championship.
