"Killing Eve" Season 4: BBC America Announces Renewal Ahead of Series' Season 3 Return
BBC America and AMC's Killing Eve made some some major additions to the third season of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's award-winning ratings juggernaut. Now let's see how many of them will survive to make it to the fourth season, with BBC America renewing the award-winning series months ahead of the show's spring premiere. Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead) serves as showrunner on the third season, following Waller-Bridge and Emerald Fennell – though no showrunner for the fourth season has been named.
"How could we not have massive confidence in Killing Eve? It has won big in every major award show and is the highest growing show on U.S. television for six years. The reason for this series' emphatic embrace is the brilliant women who breathed it into being: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Emerald Fennell, Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw and it's fairy godmother, executive producer Sally Woodward Gentle. Season 3 lead writer Suzanne Heathcote takes Eve, Villanelle and Carolyn to places more thrilling, twisted and surprising than ever. Our addicted fans will not be disappointed."
– Sarah Barnett, President, AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios
With the series set for a Spring 2020 third season return, Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones), Pedja Bjelac (Harry Potter), Camille Cottin (Call My Agent), Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9), Raj Bajaj (A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding), Turlough Convery (Ready Player One), Evgenia Dodina (One Week and a Day), Harriet Walter (Succession, The Crown), and Danny Sapani (Harlots, The Crown) are set to join Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, and Kim Bodnia.
Suzanne Heathcote (Fear the Walking Dead) will join the third season as lead writer and executive producer, with the series expected to pick up immediately following the second-season standoff between Oh's Eve, Comer's Villanelle, and Shaw's Carolyn. Heathcote executive produces alongside Waller-Bridge, Oh, Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Gina Mingacci, Damon Thomas, and Jeff Melvoin – with Nige Watson producing.
Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer reprise their critically-acclaimed performances as Eve (Oh), an MI6 operative, and psychopath assassin Villanelle (Comer) in this story of two women, bound by a mutual obsession and one brutal act. Beginning just after the end of the final episode of season one, Villanelle has disappeared, and Eve is left reeling, having no idea if the woman she stabbed is alive or dead. With both of them in deep trouble, Eve has to find Villanelle before someone else does…but unfortunately, she's not the only person looking for her.
BBC America's Killing Eve also stars Kirby Howell Baptiste (Downward Dog) as Eve's assistant Elena and David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Penny Dreadful) as Eve's colleague Bill. Adding to the ensemble cast are Darren Boyd as Frank, Sean Delaney as Kenny, and Owen McDonnell as Niko.
Killing Eve season 3 is expected to return to BBC America some time in early/mid-2020.
