The first was a gem from his childhood in the 1962 animated special Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol, based on the Charles Dickens work. "Before Charlie Brown, before Rudolph or The Grinch, there was MISTER MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL ('62) The 1st ever made-for-TV Christmas Special w/ music & lyrics by June Styne & Bob Merrill (who later wrote 'Funny Girl' in '64). 11-yr-old me LOVED it & I still do!😍🎅🇨🇽❄️🎄👍 #A_XmasTradition" the actor wrote.

Mark Hamill's Interesting 2023 Christmas Journey

Mr. Magoo was created by Millard Kaufman and John Hubley in 1949, with his first appearance in the theatrical short cartoon The Ragtime Bear. Unique to the realm of animation at the time, the character, voiced by Jim Backus, stood out as a positive figure for the elderly despite the hijinks he found himself in due to his near-sightedness. Kaufman and Hubley based their creation on Kaufman's uncle Harry Woodruff and actor-comedian W.C. Fields. United Productions of America, now owned by Sony, released 53 Mr. Magoo shorts. With Backus' passing in 1989, Greg Burson, Jim Conroy, and Ian Hanlin took over the role at various points. Leslie Nielsen portrayed Mr. Magoo in the 1997 live-action film from Disney, which flopped at the box office.

The other Christmas-related news is Hamill has a new follower. "Just found out Santa Claus follows me, which is a strong indication I'm on his 'Nice' list. I immediately followed him back to avoid any chance of being reclassified as 'Naughty'. Can't be too careful. #MerryChristmas2023 🎅" the actor quote tweeted "Santa Claus's" post about delivering presents. "About to take off on the first leg of my annual sleigh ride around the world. Tonight I'll be delivering presents to all the boys and girls on The Nice List 📜 who celebrate Christmas Eve". Our Christmas wish to Hamill, "Please reprise Jim the Vampire for the sixth and final season of What We Do in the Shadows!"
