Netflix and Stranger Things 3 star Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) are extending their working relationship beyond the confines of the Upside Down (demogorgon don't always know how to respect boundaries), with the streaming service giving a series order for Prank Encounters, a hidden-camera prank show Matarazzo is set to host. The premise behind the 8-episode series is that each episode would focus on two strangers on their first day at a new job – or so they think. Their new jobs turn into complete nightmares when their paths finally cross.
Prank Encounters hails from Propagate, with Matarazzo, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Kevin Healey, and Rob Hyde set to executive produce. Undercover Boss' Anthony Gonzalez will helm the series, set to premiere later this year.
When Stanger Things 3 opens, it's July 4, 1985, in Hawkins, Indiana – where "One Summer Can Change Everything." To give you a sense of what some of those changes might entail, Netflix released the official season overview (below) as well as a righteous amount of both season and behind-the-scenes images (click here) for fans to closely analyze and examine over the remaining weeks before the series return:
It's 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer's heating up. School's out, there's a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms and complicates the group's dynamic, and they'll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms. When the town's threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they'll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.
