The Boys S04: [SPOILER] Left Video Message in Case Things Went Bad

[SPOILER] left a video message in case things took a bad turn, and they sure did in The Boys Season 4 Ep. 5: "Beware the Jabberwock, My Son."

If you didn't check out this week's episode of Prime Video and Showrunner Eric Kripke's The Boys, we advise you to turn back around because we're throwing on our "MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!" sign ahead of diving into a big storyline development this week. Still here? Okay, this is your last chance. In "Beware the Jabberwock, My Son" (directed by Shana Stein and written by Judalina Neira), Vought News Anchor (VNN) Cameron Coleman (Matthew Edison) was brought back into our lives in a major way – but definitely not in a way that he would've wanted. Continuing his mission to rid himself of his humanity, Homelander (Antony Starr) charges The Seven, Robert Vernon/Tek Knight (Derek Wilson), and Gen V's Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) and Sam Riordan (Asa Germann) to go forth and be "wrathful gods."

To make his point, Homelander has the person who has been the leak inside Vought brought in and their hood removed – yup, it was Coleman, who is bloodily beaten to death for his action. Of course, we know he wasn't guilty – and we're pretty sure Sage (Susan Heyward) has a line on A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) being the mole. But with A-Train and Ashley (Colby Minifie) now on the same page, it looks like Ashley may have found a way to push the blame away from him while also taking down her "Cameron Coleman" problem. But did Coleman get the last laugh? Earlier today, the show's social media account shared a "hacked video" from VNN's servers that included a message from Coleman – one that we weren't meant to see unless Coleman found himself six feet under:

The Boys Season 4: Eric Kripke on Sister Sage, Firecracker Insights

During an interview with EW, Kripke shared that Susan Heyward's Sister Sage and Valorie Curry's Firecracker represent the show's twisted take on two more superhero archetypes – "The World's Smartest Person" and "All-American! USA!" When it comes to Sage, Kripke notes that being "a tactical genius" will see her having Homelander's ear – making The Seven leader "much more dangerous." As for Firecracker, Kripke notes that the gun-loving supe sits somewhere to the far right of even VNN's Cameron Coleman (Matthew Edison) – and that she definitely has very similar traits to Donald Trump's potential VP pick, Kristi Noem. Here's a look at what else Kripke had to share about Sister Sage and Firecracker:

Kripke on Sister Sage: "It's such a funny power. A lot of superhero worlds have that character. Whereas most of them are usually really reedy white dudes, we wanted a Black woman who was raised in a low socioeconomic area, so no one f***ing listens to her. It's both commentary and satirical that you have literally the smartest person in the world that could cure all of society's ills, but she just can't get anyone to listen to her. So then she becomes a bitter misanthrope."

Kripke on Firecracker: "It turns out there's always crazier. Firecracker represents both members of the conspiracy-minded movements and the super extreme right-wing news media. That character has some surprising backstory that connects her to some of the characters in our world that it was just interesting to bring in one of those pistol-packing 'I shot my puppies' type of characters."
