And below is a concept design by Federico Combi of a Batavian soldier, for The Wall, a new graphic novel by Tony Lee and Stuart Eve, out from Markosia next year telling twenty years of the life of a Roman soldier on duty at Hadrian's Wall from 198AD until 213AD.
The book focuses on a single Roman soldier, alongside Emperor Septimus Severus's final years in Britain, his death in York and his son Caracalla's rise to power after his death. The timeline was worked out here.
