Avatar Plugs Of The Week: Crossed #8 and Absolution #5

crossedCrossed #8 by Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows ships today (tomorrow in the UK) and it's just a bundle of loveliness.

If loveliness means a harrowing and literalised subtext of man's inhumanity to man.

Important people have died, the structure of the survivors' group has changed and with every step forward they seem to take two steps back. But you do what you have to do to survive.

And it does kinda make The Walking Dead about as edgy as Murder She Wrote.

Nasty non-zombies. Nasty non-zombies. Preview below.

absolution
Ansolution #5 by Christos Gage and Roberto Viacava sees the consequences of John Dusk's actions catch up with him in a physical and violent form, and we get decent superher-on-superhero action (in a fighting sense, obviously), again like Crossed #8. exploring the concept of what you do to survive, both mentally and now physically. And how flight-or-fight can give rise to some very unusual choices, both for the protagonist and those around them.

This ain't your grandfather's Green Lantern.
