Thursday Runaround – Pride, Prejudice, Zombies, Barnes And Noble

Barnes&NobleWatch: I wake to discover that Barnes & Noble seem to be happily shipping the relatively-limited range of potential-glitch hardcover comics ordered yesterday. Many of the affected books have sold out, and so Barnes & Noble, in a fit of common sense, won't allow people to order books they don't have in stock. I know, I know, incredible.

AmazonWatch: Kevin Church points out a very good way to spend your $25 Amazon gift certificate, especially if like some, you don't feel you deserve to get it. Buying books for kids who need them.

CoreyHaimWatch: Joe Field, comic store guru, shares his own story about the recently-late Corey Haim. And the Quinn Smith signing scam he pulled on WonderCon.

he came to WonderCon with the fake Quinn Smith, sharing a hotel room with him and he was apparently in on the scam… and it makes me wonder where the money went that fake "Quinn Smith" collected?

TonyLeeWatch: USAToday runs a sneak preview of the other book-to-comic adaptation that is getting people excited, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Graphic Novel.

FiefferWatch: USAToday also runs a piece on famous Village Voice cartoonist Jules Feiffer and his memoirs, Backing Into Forward.

At 16, he talked himself into an unpaid apprenticeship with the legendary cartoonist Will Eisner. Feiffer lied to his mother that he was getting paid $10 a week, which he eventually did.

LongBoxWatch: Another $25 of free comics! Comics Alliance are giving away 15 lots of $25 worth of comics on the digital comics reader LongBox, as it begins to enter public beta. All you have to do is ask whether or not you'd buy more single comics if they were available digitally. As of now, 83% say yes…

BleedingEgoWatch: This site, and me in particular, continues to get roasted by all sorts of people, including competitive web sites. Enjoy!
