Dick Tracy To Solve The Kidnap Of Little Orphan Annie
Little Orphan Annie was one of the world's longest running comic strips, running daily from 1924 until 2010, as well as spinning off into musical theatre and movies. In its latter decades it had become an action adventure thriller and the final strip saw Annie kidnapped by Mexican drug lords, believed to have been slaughtered by them, only to be rescued and held by an escaped war criminal. And Daddy Warbucks believing her to be dead.
Yeah, turn that into a song and dance number.
Last year, a number of Annie characters appeared in the Dick Tracy strip, including Warbucks, the Asp and Punjab. Warbucks spoke on the phone with detective Tracy. He implied that Annie was still missing and that Tracy might be the detective needed to track her down.
Well, that's now happening. Dick Tracy is tracking down the whereabouts of Little Orphan Annie.
Four years later, Annie fans are finally getting an answer to that cliffhanger. If someone tells them about it, that is.
Or course, first he'll have to deal with a certain person about to animate a parody version of Tracy… one Scott Shaw!
