Goons, Rebels And Dark Horse Originals – More From The ComicsPRO Presentation
We've run a few break out pieces for the new Hellboy comic and Chuck Palahniuk talking Fight Club 2, but Dark Horse had plenty to discuss in their ComicsPRO presentation to comic book retailers…
Dark Horse was keen to show off the The Art Of He Man and talked about strong orderdahead of its April launch, and tied the market demand to their definitive history of the World Of Warcraft book, out in November for $40.
The talked about Eve: Valkyrie, the video-game based comic written by Brian Wood, gave out Goon posters and disembodied limbs autographed by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk and talked about expecting the Plants Vs. Zombies FCBD title to push the sales of the digests even further and how Archie Vs. Predator is an attempt to bring some of Alex DeCampi's Grindhouse style to the Archie and Predator worlds
And retailers were pleased to hear about new discount incentives for launching titles.
Such as Dark Horse Originals, a new literary line of comics by the likes of Ethan Young, Jonathan Case, Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba. The latter being the Two Brothers graphic novel by Moon and Ba out in October
First, Matt Kindt took to the stage, talking about how Mind MGMT was a comic book he wanted to make that took an hour to read. We are also to expect Pastaways starting in March with Scott Kolins on art, the complete Pistol Whip at the end of May. And a republication of his 2 Sisters 300 page graphic novel in September.
And Lady Killer has seen both #1 and #2 sell out, Dark Horse will be going back to print on both.
Brian Wood pitched the upcoming Rebels series, saying that he thinks that there is indeed mass appeal in US history, it's not just a battlefield story, it's a life and times epic. That it is respectful of US history, rather than a "hit piece on America", And he hopes it will find a place in libraries and schools. So we are to expect PR in mass media and non-comics media.
Dark Horse said that they have several Geoff Darrow announcements coming this year, And the answer to the question "What is Dark Horse going to do without Star Wars?" is "May the Horse be with you." They assured the retailers that they have lots of plans for the future. And there is a certain Tarzan film they have been involved with… Dark Matter for 2015 on Syfay and a Goon animated movie…
