DC Comics Are Not Even Asking About A "Pre-Preacher"
At the London Super Comic Con last weekend, I was able to meet Steve Dillon and share my recent appreciation of his work on Scarlet Witch. A motor machine at the show, he sat and sketched for hours for a line that never seemed to get any shorter.
Ha talked about enjoying the pilot episode for the upcoming AMC TV adaptation of Preacher and, while it has had to be recreated for TV budgets, it very much captured the feel of the comic book for him.
I did have one fear which I expressed. Given the success DC Comics has had with Sandman Overture, Before Watchmen, Dark Knight III and their approach to Brian Bolland for a Killing Joke 2, I asked if DC had made any approach to him regarding a "Pre-Preacher".
He smiled at the thought but gave an emphatic no, they had not even asked. The Preacher contract was from a time when DC/Vertigo employed real creator owned contracts – and so they hadn't even asked. They knew what the answer would be…
