In a press release, and probably being talked about at ComicsPRO right now, Marvel and Archie have announced a publishing collaboration. Others starring Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and the X-Men are to follow.
The story of American comic books through the latter half of the twentieth century was away from the newsstand into the speciality comic book store. Archie is the only main comics brand that has maintained a newsstand and supermarket presence. Could this be a long demanded start of a walk back away from the specialist market towards the real mainstream?
