Rewriting The Death Of Bucky Barnes In Captain America
We learned of the death of Bucky Barnes in Avengers #4, the first Avengers comic to feature Captain America, reviving the classic Marvel character from the thirties-fifties. Fighting a hidden figure in the middle of the events of World War II, stopping a drone plane, dying in the process while Steve Rogers was frozen in the icey depths.
All over and done in one page. Four years later, we got the story retold as a future Captain America tried to stop Bucky from dying, now confirmed at the hands of Baron Zemo.
And it all happens again.
But in this week's Captain America: Steve Rogers #13 by Nick Spencer, Ted Brandt and Ro Stein we get the version of history rewritten by living cosmic cube, Kobik.
Really rewritten. Now without any monstrous slaves, but with Baron Zemo's son, Helmut Zemo. And giving Steve Rogers a choice between #Stucky or #Zteve…
And instead of Captain America and Bucky being tied to the drone ship, or running after it to shut it down, Baron Zemo gets his glove stuck.
And for some reason unable to take his glove off. Stuck on with Adhesive X maybe?
And Bucky rewriting everything. So in the new reality did Bucky no longer die? Did Captain America no longer get thrust into the icy depths?
