Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have come to expect at least one post-credits scene in all their superhero films, and the same is true of their space opera films, such as the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was asked on Twitter about the possibility of a post-credits scene, and not only did he confirm that there would be one, but he also stressed that the scene would be so important, the only acceptable excuse to miss it is if you need to rush out of the theater because your mother is dying:

All I'll say is, unless you have to rush out because your mother is dying, stay through the entire end credits. https://t.co/c58nzDeCnp

Gunn didn't elaborate on what other urgent situations could necessitate skipping the GOTG2 post-credits scene. For instance, would a dying father, sibling, or significant other also be a reasonable excuse? Gunn doesn't say, so you'll have to use your best judgement.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on May 5. Hopefully your mom can hang on past then.
