Universal Unveils New Dark Universe Logo And Confirms Bride Of Frankenstein

Universal has branded their new line of classic monster movies that starts with The Mummy on June 9th. Now known as the Dark Universe, they studio has also confirmed that the second film will be a remake of the Bride of Frankenstein to be written by David Koepp and directed by Bill Condon, scheduled for release February 19th, 2019. They've even gone so far as to have Weta Digital make a new motion logo design with music by Danny Elfman.

Universal also released a photo featuring the stars of their Dark Universe – Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man, Javier Bardem as Frankenstein's Monster, Tom Cruise as Nick Morton, Sofia Boutella as The Mummy, and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll. Prodigium, the mysterious organization run by Jeckyll, is what connects all the films together.

The architects behind the new Dark Universe are Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan who are working with guys like Christopher McQuarrie and David Koepp to put this whole thing together.

When Universal approached us with the idea of reimagining these classic characters, we recognized the responsibility of respecting their legacy while bringing them into new and modern adventures.  The studio and our fellow creative collaborators have championed and challenged us as we've begun to spin the web of Dark Universe.  It's our hope these movies will engross longtime fans and spark the imaginations of brand-new ones.

The video below showcases the original Universal Monster movies and introduces the Dark Universe motion logo.
