Arrow Co-Showrunner Blows Away Most Of The Vigilante Theories
Don't you hate it when you absolutely know something to be true only to find out that it's not? Arrow did that to most of us comic fans last season when the introduced Adrian Chase and Vigilante to the Arrowverse. In the comics, Adrian Chase IS Vigilante and actor Josh Segarra was coming along nicely as a good friend to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) with the only big question being who was Prometheus. And then they did the big switcheroo on us and Adrian Chase turned out to be Prometheus. And a lot of comic fans were left saying, "wait… but… no… huh…?"
Fast forward to this season where we've been told that we're going to see who the Vigilante is and it wouldn't just be someone out of the blue. That it was a character we were familiar with… and the speculation began to fly. Some of the fun theories included it being Captain Pike, Tommy Merlyn back from the dead, Earth-2 Oliver Queen, Earth-2 Robert Queen, Earth-2 Tommy Merlyn, Earth-2 Adrian Chase, Roy Harper, Helena Bertinelli, Curtis' ex-husband Paul and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. You can go ahead and erase all of those because in an interview executive producer and co-showrunner Wendy Mericle didn't with Rotten Tomatoes a few weeks back, she gave a way a hint that changes everything. When asked about the Vigilante:
We are super psyched about that character and about the stories that we have planned. He'll definitely come back. We left that dangling deliberately in season five knowing that we would bring that character back in season 6. He'll have a really cool story line, not just in respect to the city, but also with respect to a particular member of the team. We're intrigued and we're kind of going through the casting process right now. We're very excited about it.
They're going through the casting process? So it won't be someone out of the blue, yet it's someone they were still casting as of the beginning of this month? The big mask unveil won't have the same effect since it will be a new actor. The theory that still stands is that it's Dinah Drake's ex-partner/lover. Since the casting was happening three weeks ago, it's likely we won't see who it is until the Thanksgiving episode just before the crossover.
