Stephen Colbert Hovers in with 7-Month Old Breaking Trump News
One of the worst kept secrets in television is that the late night talk shows don't record new shows on Friday. They double record on Thursday because who doesn't want a three day weekend? If I was a late night host I'd probably double record Tuesdays too so I could sleep in on Wednesday… doesn't that sound awesome? Anyway, recording on Thursday means that whatever breaking news that happens Thursday night of Friday that a late night host like… oh say Stephen Colbert… might want to make fun of will have to wait until Monday. And by then we might be three news scandals down the line. What's a comedian/host to do?
For Colbert the answer seems to be to film yourself gliding around your office on a hover board as you cover the story for a special insert video. The host explains the situation saying that, "sometimes Trump still happens." The topic that Colbert felt was too important or good to pass up? The story from the New York Times that seven months ago Donald Trump ordered Robert Mueller fired but White House counsel Don McGann refused, saying he would quit and Trump backed off.
Politics aside, the really question here has to be… how the heck is Colbert so good on that hover board? He's got that thing down. And why is there Roman armor in the hallway?
