Number Crunching Review: Green Hornet #3 by Kevin Smith, Phil Hester and Jonathan Lau

The new Green Hornet issue from Dynamite Entertainment has been hyped as an essential buy for a death scene of a major Green Hornet character. Which is all very well and good, but how does it stack up to the Number Cruncher cruel and focussed eye…

Nagging problem? Kind of, this is meant to be a moving and emotional issue about the death of a well known and much loved character. And I, like so many, have never read an issue of Green Hornet before this series, I didn't hear the radio drama, I didn't even see the appearance in the Batman TV show. I'm got no frame of reference. It's like being told that someone you're vaguely aware of has died and you go "oh that's sad" and then get on with making a tuna pasta bake. So, you know, this is fine as a comic. I just can't get the lump in my throat that some people are feeling.

Cover Statistics: Alex Ross 50%, John Cassaday 50%, Joe Benitez (10%) Stephen Segova (4%)

So does that mean there's 114% of Green Hornet #3 out there? Apparently so.

What's the lesson to be learned? Leave the statistics to Numbercrunching.
