Article Summary

  • Gentle Giant Ltd. releases a new Godzilla 1974 Legends in 3D bust.

In 1974, fans were introduced to Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, the latest and most thrilling chapter in the Godzilla franchise. Directed by Jun Fukuda, this iconic Japanese kaiju film featured the King of the Monsters coming face to face with one of his deadliest foes to date, Mechagodzilla. As the story unfolds, a group of subterranean ape-like aliens known as the Simians create Mechagodzilla in the hopes of conquering Earth. Mechagodzilla wreaks havoc disguised as Godzilla, deceiving the public, only to have the real King of the Monsters confront the imposter. Gentle Giant Ltd. has unveiled its latest Toho creation with a new Legends in 3D statue.

This limited edition piece comes in at 9.5" tall and features the Kaiju King on top of an atomic explosion base. Godzilla is depicted right from the legendary 1974 film, with a nice textured design, and will be limited to only 1,000 pieces. Hopefully, this means that Gentle Giant Ltd. will have more kaiju monsters arriving in bust form in the future, and fingers crossed that a Mechagodzilla bust will arrive in the future. Collectors will be able to bring home the King of the Monsters in Q1 2025 for a mighty $200. Pre-orders are already live online with Gentle Giant Ltd., Fan Channel sites as well as at Local Comic Book Stores.
