Chris Sotomayor, Comics Experience and Source Point Press Donate NYCC Sales to RAINN

Comic book colourist Chris Sotomayor wrote on Facebook:

Last year at NYCC, I donated half of all my sales to charities that helped the people of Puerto Rico in the wake of hurricane Maria.

Although Puerto Rico is still not where it needs to be (I'll do more personally), I'll be donating to another important organization this year.

After discussing this with my wife (and being the father of 2 daughters), this year, I'll be donating half of all my total NYCC sales to www.rainn.org to help survivors of sexual assault.

Please stop by my table (K3) at NYCC, and pick up a (authorized) print and know the money will be going to a good cause.

RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the USA's largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline in partnership with more than a thousand local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.

In response to Sotomayor's statement, Andy Schmidt of Comics Experience and Source Point Press decided to join in and help with his efforts, stating,

Inspired by Christopher Sotomayor's incredibly big heart, I spoke with Travis McIntire at Source Point Press and we've decided to donate 30% of our sales at NYCC on the Comics Experience titles published through SPP to RAINN to help assist women who are victims of sexual assault and to help educate communities on how to prevent sexual assaults in their areas.

So, if you're hitting New York Comic Con this year, please stop by Source Point Press's booth to take a look at our line of books–we're debuting four new titles in addition to the four titles that debuted earlier this year, and if you think they're worthy of your hard earned dollars, take a little pride that 30% of that money is going to a good cause.

Also, then swing down to artist alley and visit Chris Sotomayor (Artist Alley K3) as half of his convention sales are also being donated to RAINN during that weekend.

Thanks, Chris, for your big heart and inspiring us to do better by the people we share the Earth with.
