The Comic Store That Got Robbed on Christmas Day

In Florida, over Christmas, they swap the traditional chestnuts roasting on an open fire for swaying palms in balmy breezes. It's just a different kind of traditional Christmas. And for those who just can't do without ice and snow, they can bring it on — especially in the small town of Christmas. People come from miles around to have their Christmas cards postmarked "Christmas, Florida". If you go, expect to wait in longer-than-usual lines for what has become a holiday tradition for many. Additionally, the first weekend in December, Fort Christmas celebrates a "Cracker Christmas" with pioneer demonstrations, homemade crafts, exhibits, and BBQ.

Oh, and yes, they rob comic stores. Well, one or two of them did. This year, at least; no sign of it being a tradition quite yet.

But it is why IDC Comics & Toys of Avon Park, Florida didn't have the best of Christmasses.

The owners received a call on Christmas Day morning that the store had been broken into. The door appeared to have been kicked in, and on examining the damage, they discovered that a good majority of their CGC-graded comics were gone.

They will be posting the serial numbers of each missing book online and contacting local stores for anyone trying to sell them and they have a message for the thieves: "Hope you enjoyed yourself, but you will be caught and you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

To that endeavour, they are appealing to their fellow Floridans for help. To put down the mince pies and eggnog for a brief moment if you know anything at all about the break-in and theft, and you are encouraged to call the Highlands County Sheriff's Office on (863) 402-7200 or Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS.

Because it clearly not the season of goodwill to all men…
