DC Comics Issues Retailer Advisory Over Catwoman: Under The Moon by Lauren Myracle, Isaac Goodhart
Bleeding Cool ran a mini-preview of the Free Comic Book Day preview of Catwoman: Under The Moon, a new title from DC Ink by Lauren Myracle and Isaac Goodhart coming to comics shops on May 1st. It caused a mini-furore, I am told, as people may not have been aware of certain content issues.
Anyway, as a result, DC Comics has issued a Retailer Advisory Notice to comic book stores. It reads:
CATWOMAN: UNDER THE MOON
RETAILER ADVISORYPlease note that CATWOMAN: UNDER THE MOON, the new title from DC Ink coming to comics shops on May 1, includes adult language, scenes of abusive behavior and a scene of animal cruelty. It is recommended for readers ages 15 and up. Resources for preventing self-harm and abuse are included in the back of the book.
It may be worth noting that, adult language aside, there are such contents in the Free Comic Book Day preview too. But it looks like the full version may be even more Veronica Mars than I thought…
While the solicitation for the book:
UNDER THE MOON A CATWOMAN TALE TP DC INK
(W) Lauren Myracle (A/CA) Isaac Goodhart
She rejects human cruelty, but sometimes it seems as though brute force is the only way to "win." And if Selina is to survive on the streets, she must be tough. Can she find her humanity and reconcile toughness with her desire for community … and love? From Lauren Myracle, the New York Times best-selling author of books like ttfn and ttyl, comes the story of a teenage Catwoman, as she struggles to find her own identity while living on the streets of Gotham. In Shops: May 01, 2019 SRP: $16.99
Has been amended to add the following:
Please Note: This title includes adult language, scenes of abusive behavior and a scene of animal cruelty. It is recommended for readers ages 15 and up. Resources for preventing self-harm and abuse are included in the back of the book.
